Music

Music Director Opening – Holy Trinity is seeking a competent pianist and/or organist (or an individual proficient on another instrument) to provide service music twice a month and for special occasions. Please contact newsletter@holytrinityky.org for more information.

Using both The Episcopal Church’s 1982 Hymnal, as well as the supplemental Wonder, Love, and Praise, which contains an eclectic collection of hymns, songs, and spiritual songs, Holy Trinity integrates multiple styles of music into its worship, including occasional singing of psalms and canticles. In addition to piano and organ, musical accompaniment is often provided by parishioners who play the violin, fiddle, clarinet, and recorder.

Holy Trinity’s organ, purchased in 2009, is an Allen Ensemble Protégé L-4. Its “Midi” attachment provides a reservoir of instrumentation resources.

From time-to-time, the congregation sponsors Evensong (called Evening Prayer, if it not sung). Evening Prayer/Evensong are part of what is known as the “Daily Office,” a bi-yearly rotation of lessons from Scripture and a monthly rotation of psalms woven between consistent prayers and canticles). All the services comprising the Daily Office are found on pages 75-135 of The Book of Common Prayer. When used regularly, the Daily Office is designed to expose worshippers to the bulk of Holy Scripture over a two-year cycle. With Advent 2019 (the beginning of the current church year), we began Year Two of the Daily Office Lectionary. The Year Two reading cycle begins on page 937 of The Book of Common Prayer.
